A History Of The Ancient World Poem by Morgan Michaels

A History Of The Ancient World

Rating: 5.0

Fire, fire, clay, clay, wool,
Iron, iron, iron, wine, GOLD,
Silver, silver, copper, tin, tin,
A little arsenic, the flute,
Bronze, bronze, bronze, brass, glass
The sail, the olive, the loom, the wine-dark sea,
The entire alphabet. The entire Iliad.
Ebon, cedar, oak, pine, more wine,
Philosophy, tragedy, comedy, elegy, ode,
And murex. And ivory. Never forget ivory.
Ebur, ebur, ebur, gum, gum,
The fluted column,
Many well-smelling things from the East
Silk, pasta, the aqueduct, coffee, tchai,
And ostrich egg-
Ostrich egg? Are you certain?
Yes.
And ostrich egg!
