A Holy Person Poem by Francis Duggan

A Holy Person

Rating: 5.0

In her lounge room she has a small altar where she often kneels for to pray
To God and his Saints and his Angels she prays for to join them one day
Unmarried and pure in her seventies her wavy hair is silver gray
Her life to her God is devoted unmarried and pure she will stay
Till the Reaper will claim the life from her the one who claims the life of all
His scythe always quite sharp and ready and to him every life form does fall
In her prime she was quite a beauty still a good looking woman today
She never fell in love or had a lover to God alone homage she does pay
She is in the Church every sunday in the Church choir she does sing
To her God she is truly devoted and such devotion is a beautiful thing
She is such a beautiful person and she has such a beautiful smile
A holy and down to earth person untainted by conceit or guile
True to her higher self she leads by good example a woman who believes in prayer
She is true to what she believes in and people like her are so rare.
