A Journey Without Destination Poem by Ankit Raj Goyal

A Journey Without Destination

Rating: 4.5

Running through the thick undergrowth
Unknown to where I was headed forth
The trees towering above like castles
Their branches meeting, leaving no holes
Together they crowd out the airy space
Leave no chunk for the Sun to shower it's grace
The darkness is eerie, a bottomless well
Yet I tread on, unable to break the shell
Sometimes life is a fabric of confusing mystery
No destination to this never ending journey

I can hear sounds strange and loud
Some pushing me, others calling out
Between the woodpecker's drumming
And the tiny bird's constant humming
I hear from far out a deafening roar
The call of the wild, and some more
The snake's hissing, the monkey's chattering,
The jungle's a mixed bag, leaves us crying laughing
Sometimes life is a fabric of confusing mystery
No destination to this never ending journey

I seek a little space out in the clearing
To rest awhile, gather my breathing
Or a nook in a corner, somewhere protected
Shelter from the elements, make my nerves resurrected
Sometimes I hear the waves break on the shore
The ship can't be far away, I am almost too sure
If only I could traverse this vast expanse, see the light
That leads to the morning from this long long night
Sometimes life is a fabric of confusing mystery
No destination to this never ending journey.
