A Lonely Soul Poem by Doris Cornago

A Lonely Soul

Rating: 5.0

The best part of me is not what I keep for myself
But a piece which I give to those who need
The part which I cannot appreciate
Because it makes me
Vulnerable
Out
In
The open
Likely to be hurt
Again, but it's part of
Who I am, God's appointment
Not my choice, but my inheritance
Go by the roadside, just abide, another
Chance to help a lonely soul, extend my hand
Once more, just one more, my life's best treasure

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Helping others is in my DNA; I was nurtured with it and married into it. Somehow, it made me into the person that is most useful for everyone. Although there is true joy in being able to help, there are also instances when some people take advantage. There lies the rub, but what to do? I had depicted this orientation of being helpful as a rose in a safe-box. The reason for the rose's existence is for others, but nothing for itself, except being a rose.

Hi Subhas. Yes, it's a blurb from the inner universe transmitted to my fingers. Thank you for appreciating my interpretation, but not my own creation. :)

It is a masterpiece, Dear Doris. A very noble approach which needs to be emulated by all. Thanks.

Hi Rajnish. I truly believe that all men have compassion but the fear of being hurt prevents them from reaching out. There are also those who will say kindness cannot be practiced with the heart, but with the brain, to be weighed against consequences. So, yes, it's nobility that makes us do it, above all warnings. So, yes, let's try to emulate what it is to be humane. :)
