—This poem is for Amelie Ison of Leicester, England, who I have stopped corresponding with as of yesterday, as I informed her of such.

I know not seems,
young friend, appearances,
yours. I delve deeper, for certainties,
clever girl—'clever is as clever does' as
as you have heard from me before—I delve
deeper for truths concerning you, to see behind
your mask, Drowning Girl, clever girl, that pasteboard
mask that hides the real you, your true intentions,
to decide if you are worth the keeping, the results
now in: the dream decisive as I have to told you—
you are out, not worth the keeping, the English woman
diving behind Deadman's Reef outside Freeport, Bahamas drowned, drowns, full five fathoms down. We could not
save her: ‘‘twas her lies, deceptions that weighed her/you
down. You reap what you sow, Amelie, well-deserved.
