A Note On Apathy - Poem by Jeremy D. Grimes

Sing- Oh woken Bosnian child,
Sing to the world its own selfish notes.
Remind them that all men regress back
To the God-soaked cord of giving
And humanity entire is bound
To each other’s intrinsic design.

Show them your swelling ribs and parched lips,
Begging for the water we flush down.
Give them your self-devouring arms;
Proclaim, ‘Your garbage could give them life.’
And whisper golden poems of promise
Where every king and peasant is fed and well.
