A Nous Seuls. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

A Nous Seuls. (Translation) .

Nous seuls pouvons devaluer l'or
en ne nous souciant pas
s'il tombe ou monte
sur le marche.
Partout ou il y a de l'or
il ya une chaine, tu sais,
et si ta chaine
est de l'or
tant pire
pour toi.

Des plumes, des ecailles
et des pierres de la forme de la mer
sont aussi rares.

Ceci pourrait etre notre revolution:
Aimer ce qui est abondant
autant que
ce qui est rare.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
She starts by saying that we, the consumers, can devalue gold, by not caring if its price rises or falls on the stock market, any market. She adds that if you have a gold chain-jewllery-' so much the worse/ for you'. Yet many people would disagree with that and prize their gold jewellery above anything else(I think) .
She adds that feathers, shells and stones are just as rare. We could lead a revolution by loving what is plentiful as much as what is rare.
The poem offers much to think about, specifically why gold is so precious. That has to be because financiersdeclare gold to be most precious. A poem that made me think about gold, although I think it will always be precious. A solid gold watch is better than a gold-plated one. Currency is best measured by the gold standard.
