A Place For Me - Poem by Lynzi Berner

My mother used to tell me
when I was a child

' There's a place for everything
and everything has a place'

I always believed her

But not now

My place was with you
is still with you

But you turned off the heat
and shut off the lights
Then you left

It's too cold here to survive
I'll die if I stay

So where does that leave me?

If I stay
I die
If I leave
then what

I have no place
except with you

So it comes down to this

Stay and die
Leave and die

I think I'll live

I'm just not sure how yet
