A Prayer, A Test, A Sign Poem by Krysten Palen

A Prayer, A Test, A Sign

I dreamed of Spain, or Germany's skies,
To work or to study, with hope in my eyes.
But with just senior high, my dream couldn't land,
Their doors were still closed, though I longed for that stand.

In all of my searching, a pattern was clear,
South Korea kept calling, its message sincere.
"No experience required, " the bright banners read,
A challenge was waiting, and my spirit was led.

I never liked Korean, its sounds felt so strange,
But to pass the exam, my heart had to change.
So I studied with care, not with pressure or haste,
Each moment a treasure, no effort a waste.

I prayed to the Lord, "Please show me the sign,
If this path is Yours, let the victory be mine.
If I fail, I will wander to lands yet untold,
But I'll follow Your lead, with a faith pure and bold."

Then came the result, I had passed the great test,
A door had swung open, my heart was at rest.
This is only beginning, the journey's first key,
And if it is God's will, He'll keep blessing me.
