At four in the morning, the journey began,
We set off together inside an SUV van.
Five of us traveling, Papa, Mama, Kuya, Bebeh, and me,
With Kuya's kind gift, this trip came to be.
I'd never once stepped on Corregidor's shore,
Only in books or in films had I learned of its lore.
At the port we were joined by tourists from far,
From Japan and the Netherlands, love's pair under star.
Through stories of war, the island still speaks,
Of courage, of trials, of hope people seek.
I wondered, "What if I'd been born in that time? "
A world full of chaos, yet hearts still could shine.
Though just half a day, the memory will stay,
An honor to walk where the brave paved the way.
With family beside me, my spirit could see,
How history's lessons still set our hearts free.
