A Prisoner's Confession Poem by Dr Dillip K Swain

A Prisoner's Confession

Rating: 5.0

A Prisoner's Confession
It was his maiden tears
And his raspy voice murmured:
These six days in jail are
The dividend of my sixty years life
Of my sheer audacity
Filled with ego-centric affluence
The result is a nasty place to dwell
In the company of barmy bulls
Tamed in the confinement
I visualize the bulls fighting here
And the jailer shouting
Stop, stop, stop..!
Foods for street beggars
While getting into my mouth
My head reels in a backward swing
Vomiting my amusing days
Of sweets, fruits, and non-veg items
Of my favorite soup
No…., let me atone!
I am betrayed by my specter
Running after illicit wealth
Lapsing my daughter's fun
And my wife's regular harsh tone
No, no, no..!
It's illegal, it's corruption
It's the public fund, sheer misappropriation
The withered voice said:
Don't' plea my bail
Don't take me out
Leave me alone, let me atone.
