A Quick Return And Exit Poem by Edwina Reizer

A Quick Return And Exit

I shall come back when you least expect it
and surprise will be with you.
And you shall wonder why I returned
and how it is you view
only my eyes that look with longing.
For they have thirsted to be
only where they could see your face
with your eyes looking at me.

And if you ask 'Where have you been? '
I will ask you to guess.
My hope will be in earnest
that when I do confess
'I've been where only the lonely stay'
that you will say to me
Well my mind has been with you only
for you're alive in my memory.

So when I return right out of the blue
I will wait for you to respond.
And if you don't, as quick as I came
you'll find that I'm already gone.

I love the wording in this poem. Love that once was can be ignited again. The flames was not totally extinguished there were still embers glowing. If love has no fuel to keep it going it will fade away. A romantic write.
