A Route 66 Kind Of Day - Poem by Marilyn Lott

Took a little ride one morning
Along the famous Route 66
It is still the best place around
To get those travel kicks

It looked like a picture postcard
As the fog nestled amongst the trees
Windmills rose above them
They were whirling in the breeze

Stopped to get a bite to eat
Played the ole’ Jukebox too
What a fun day it was
I know you’d enjoy it too

It’s something for everyone
Buckle the kids up in their seats
And take off down the road
Maybe stop for a bite of treats

There is nothing quite like it
On a sunny day in May
Take my advice and have
A Route 66 kind of day!

Great play on a popular song, tieing it in to a current, real-life situation, creating an image that all can relate to.
Well, crafted, too, with imagery and structured rhyme.
    Nice work.
