A Salty Tear Poem by Dorsey Baker

A Salty Tear

You are bright
as a star
but dark as a cloud
when a salty tear
starts to fall

You call on strength
when loneliness
starts to call on you
and you try to
keep it to yourself
when a salty tear
starts to fall

You agree with life
that death is not a welcome guest
You cannot break the curse
although you do your best
When a salty tear
starts to call
Your heart begins to beat
like a horse kicking in a stall
When a salty tear
starts to fall
