Reverential holy sight was that,
At 'Vijay college' of Vijaypur city,
Came he like glowing muse light,
To enlighten our dark life and fate!
When I saw his fair face,
That was so grand brightening,
As the rising Sun at horizon gate,
Welcomed him we for gathering site.
He was smiling to see us all,
Like a bloomed lotus laughing,
I listened to his Lullaby Lay,
'What a sweet lecture! ' I said,
I slept like a baby in his lulling cradle,
That was his sweetest honey-comb discourse,
Heard we all with anxious applause,
Acclaimed on our professor's genius.
'Would you nourish me carefully,
With milk of English muse lovely,
If I come to you devotedly',
Asked I eagerly and heartily.
'Oh! Yes, ', said he nodding firmly,
And looked at me by holding my hand,
Then led me towards Celestial gate,
Of most beautiful garden of Eden!
I saw in his head and heart,
All West Minister Abbey,
Where mighty souls of letters lie,
In graveyard under shadow of Cypress trees!
He was an Indian Christian,
Born in Goa, lived in Dhardwar,
Transferred to Kolhapur,
And died in Mumbai
