A Setting Sun Upsets Me Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

A Setting Sun Upsets Me

Rating: 5.0

I wonder why a setting sun upsets,
Departing whilst a friend, passenger,
A belated monsoon when hesitates,
Why good fragrance fades like a stranger.

And still the sun at dusk is ought to set,
Travellers in a train board but to part,
Some monsoons made are not to be so wet,
And every scent is born to fade apart.

Only, when and how seldomseems so clear.
Every life's here for a limited lease,
Thedance of life at journey's end does cease,
Fair, if time of death's fraughtwith mortal fear.

And man cannot soothe the sharp edge of strife,
When sorrows joyous tails of life follow,
And happiness when comes trailing sorrow,
Nor canhe hoists joy's height, nor makes them rife!

If honour could turn to distant disgrace,
And pain as pleasure's bound to alternate,
If youth should one day wear a wrinkled face,
And wealth were to open poverty's gate,
And every breath breathed out becomes dead breath,
Why not say good-bye to the last as Death?

Man is aware of the realities of life and still not quite. And this truth comes to light when death arrives knocking, arrives when failure, comes when pain in
place of pleasure.

2008 vintage finally is blessed with some attention, and I must thank you Edward Louis. But I don't understand one thing. Last few days I happen to see your feedback/comments only when I open the poem following someone else's feedback. It is not visible on my Manage Comments Page. And I might have missed to acknowledge a few. Perhaps you can tell me why/how...
