A Sincere Request Poem by Namita Rani Panda

A Sincere Request

You don't believe in what I pray
And I never agree with what you say,
You don't love to love what I love
And I laugh at you for what you have,
You despise me for my sunburnt cheek
And I never appreciate the language you speak,
You scorn at me for the colour of my skin
And I disdain your dress that differs from mine.
But the eyes may be grey, green, brown or blue
Do the pearls they shed have different hues?
Don't they join our hearts like the strongest glue
laving all differences filling hopes anew?
The lips may be thick or thin, smooth or parched
With a flicker of smile the happiness they spread
Is a source of perennial joy whenever we're sad,
To feel that unique moment is any language needed?
What is the need of so much gore and bloodshed
If the colour of our blood is the same so red?
Isn't it wise to let our ‘Ego' go forever,
And despite differences that we nurture
We can live together peacefully as brothers and sisters
The planet being our ever-so-loving mother.
