A Small Resurrection Poem by WES Vogler

A Small Resurrection

Rating: 5.0

On a sunday, wandering around the town
I came to a yard sale and sat me down
A cardboard box, almost empty, I eyed
It was sitting there, waiting, with something inside

In the bottom was a dirty gray garden ornmament
which I'm sure at one time had been an adornment
I pried it out and stood it up
and sure as Caesar was once a pup

A little girl was represented
A touch serene, softly augmented
Then I thought... she could well be Alice
Of Wonderland fame... from a 'chanted palace

"What will this beauty set me back? "
I asked of the lady by the novels rack
"About seven dollars will fill the bill."
"Well, then, by golly, I think I will."

"It was taken home and put in a tub
And carefully washed... and given a rub
Terribly faded and weathered. I thought
This little girl's possibility fraught

A fine coat of white enamel applied,
She sprang into life.. relieved... I sighed
She was proudly installed in a place of her own
In a flower border on a small slab of stone

Right by the front stairs looking quite pretty
Dominating the peonies... showing no pity
Her presence caused gossip mongst all the roses
They preened and adopted unusual poses

A move to a condo was later encouraged
My daughter inhereted her... wherein she fluorished
This is a snap of her new situation
Happly installed... in new participation

Thanks for the explanation to Ronnie. That part confused me, too. Speaking of Ronnie, yesterday she had 50 Irish limericks posted, and today they have all disappeared. The majority of her other poems are gone as well. She posted a limerick with the title " All Good Things Must End" with a ton of stuff in the poet's notes. It sounds like she may be saying goodbye.
