Budgies do not require gravel for feeding
In fact it could cause some internal bleeding
For years we were taught
Grit was needed ... but's not
They split seed with their beaks, thus succeeding
Google budgies and gravel for elucidation
from Google: Does my bird need gravel or grit? Budgies do not need gravel or grit because they remove the outer hull of the seed before ingesting the kernel.... However, now we know that only birds like pigeons and doves that consume seeds whole, without removing the outer hull, need gravel to help them digest.
A very pretty bird, and he seems to be reading the newspaper on the bottom of his cage!

I've never owned a budgie; I'm sure I never will. I just feed birds that live outside and watch them from my sill!
What a poetic comment!
