A Song Interlaced, Written For You Poem by Mark Heathcote

A Song Interlaced, Written For You

A song interlaced, written for you
Written from your words to me
Dreaming of what more I can say
what more I can sacrifice or do for you

Darling, I do believe I love you.
As much as you love me
Darling, I do believe I love you.
As much as you love me

Darling, I've written a song only for you.
Darling, I'm going to sing it only for you.
From the chorus again, darling, just for you.
Darling, soon the music of the moon

Is going to touch the shores of you
And linger like harbour bells and lights till the dawn.
And I am going to love you.
Like you love me in endless waves once again.
Someday soon. Maybe tonight.

Till the ferryman oars me far from your arms
Till the ferryman rows me away and all the sunlight
And the moonlight is gone.
Till the ferryman steals my song and kills the lexicon.
Till the ferryman gathers all my thoughts
And all the stars predawn are lit and foregone,
Foregone, foregone, to someplace before the sunlight shone.
