A Staged Dream Poem by Matthew Holloway

A Staged Dream

Lost, lost within a storm
of thoughts and possibilities
of varying desires and passions
of events, imagined outcomes
played out upon a stage before me
short life skits, improv to the unknown
oh love what such sweet a word
profound enough to move a soul
profound enough to etch a stone
through all the scenes and dreams
throughout each and every script
imagined and rewritten
it always circles back to this
name, word, soul
beyond all possibilities
amid a storm and lost am I
my heart forlorn and weeping
pray the heroine of this piece
the Juliet I long for
answers only ever to the
unrequited name
