A Stone Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

A Stone

A stone
Alone in the ocean near a river of light
This was my home

And when
After so many eons the river went cold
Then came the land

So high
Atop a mountain in time continued, as I
In the winds as a stone, turned into sand

To find
Tiny bits of myself caught in the winds
It was I, as I never was;
Or have ever been

Soon then
Beyond the shoal to deepest of deep
Given back to the river
Near a place I began

In end
Born in the furnace of Earth
Where I returned as the sand
I became once again
The stone that I am
