A Stranger Encounter Poem by Hannah Davies

A Stranger Encounter

There you stood
I froze, just like I knew I would.
A cold and distant stare
Then you walked past me as if I wasn't there.

No recognition
Ignoring me was your mission.
I felt so numb
It's likie I was a stranger even though you are my mum.

I felt so deflated
As you looked at me with pure hatred.
Not a word did you say
You just looked the other way.

So this is how it's going to be?
You still continue to punish me.
That really did hurt
As you made me feel like dirt.

All hope is now lost
I spoke up and now paying the cost.
It's clear that you no longer care
Gone is the love we used to share.

It's up to you what you want to do
But you'll need me before I need you.
When you're sitting in your chair lonely, old and grey
You'll regret treating me like a stranger that day.
