A Teacher Remembers Poem by Panagiota Romios

A Teacher Remembers

Rating: 5.0

           🌷🌷🌷
Those young, clear bright eyes,
hands over their hearts.
Saying the Pledge of Allegiance
on a fragrant Spring morn.
The sun shining through the golden
shades.
Scents of Lake Michigan to add to the
glory of the day.

To be a teacher at Lyman Trumbull School,
was a gift beyond any diamond in a box.
Youngsters with youth, joy and beautiful souls
always made my day, a sparkling splendor.
Full of jokes and practical tricks.
We learned and shared together.
Amidst a class of mirth and much youthful
laughter.
.
They asked me questions that made them part of
my tapestry of life, forever after.
Each day an adventure I would love to relive and can
only remember.
Those children blessed my life and by their humility,
taught me the joys and dignity of humanity.

No humungus pay, did I get as that was not why I
became a teacher.
But I should have paid them for what we discovered together.
Those days in Chicago Public Schools in Andersonville!
A sparkling rose quartz memory pendant, I shall cherish and
with love, remember!
Even on the coldest nights in December!

Indeed, Kingsley! Everyday was a joy to go to work. I loved teaching in Chinatown in San Francisco. Taking a cable car to work was beyond beautiful. Plus the kids were so lovely and had a passion to learn. Thank you for the 10 also.))

Panagiota Romios I dearly loved them. I cried at their graduations. I did tutoring fr the Cubans in the class with English hassles. They in turn invited me to family celebrations. I was referred to as Maesra. That's what teachers were called prior to Castro. They wrote me up in the Cuban newspaper. How nice. I had other nationalities in that class, Iranians, japanese, Greek, Black. We all got along as one! best years of my like, bless you, Sandra.
