A Temporary Activity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Temporary Activity

What 'now'...
Are they doing to one another?

"Practicing effective backstabbing.
And rehearsing the throwing,
Each other under a bus."

But...
What about 'us'?
We had become accustomed,
Of them treating us that way.
Aren't we entitled to be abused?
And accused for things we did not do.
This is not fair at all.
Who are we now to depend upon,
To pretend they empathize with our dilemma?

"I'm sure they will find another way,
To Blame what they are doing to themselves...
On us.
Trust me...
What they do is just a temporary activity."
