A Very Dystopian Romance Poem by Matthew Holloway

A very dystopian romance
he loved her without a doubt
thought of her often
would have done anything
to protect, be beside her
it was a poetic full impassioned love
however left unrequited
upon risking his own heart
and declaring his feelings
he found a gentle coldness
strike into the depths of his soul
the dreams built upon it all
collapsed into a nothingness
silence remained haunting
and alone, alone he sat
the story he conjured up
became distorted, a dying hope
she would go on to find love
some other lucky guy
who he would quietly dislike
and he seemed destined to repeat
the same story over and again
for his song and that came with it
bore but a dystopian romance
