A Visitor Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

A Visitor

It snowed all that day
the streets filling with snow
and turning to slush

cars splashed along
spraying passersby
with the stuff

whitetail deer
in the forest preserve
gazed out at us

we spread salt
and birdseed
on sidewalks

damn it all
winter's here

I couldn't agree more, winter is for the birds! Oh, wait, even they are smart enough to go south!
