A Winter Afternoon Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

A Winter Afternoon

Rating: 5.0

The smoke that comes from the neighbour's chimney is
Waltzing with the sunlight and wind
Deeply the light is falling
As I watch it floating into infinity
Layers of blue becoming a yellowish-red hue
As the trees sway with the smoke
They play tag with the cold, winter breeze
Softly the sun goes to sleep timely
As I have my eyes close into the darkness
Of late afternoon
The hunger doesn't cease
Until the night's feast arrives
