A Worker Bee Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

A Worker Bee

Rating: 4.5

You are expected to be
All things to all people

The Powers that be state:
'We are going to do this and we are going to do that'

My response to that,
'Is there a mouse in your pocket'

Because it is not we
It is me

Cute poem comparing your work as a clerk in the airforce of a worker bee! You were so excellent at this job and I know when you retired, you left a hole in the record office. I wonder if they ever were able to find anyone as thorough as you?

P.S. but i wonder: had you ever heard another explain we, using a mouse, before you wrote this? :) bri

after reading and quickly rereading, i got a good, though not earthshaking, laugh out of this Reflections on my 35 years working as a paper pusher. but i think i only see ONE reflection. are there more, after 30 years? i shall be satisfied (very) EVEN if this is the sum total. to MyPoemList. bri :)
