Abigail - A Father’s Joy Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

Abigail - A Father’s Joy

Amidst circumstances
Hardship variegated
Bruised and battered
Disparaged, humiliated
Rebuffed, discounted
You’re still standing tall
Honorable and confident
You’ve faced many fires
That strong men cringe
And mighty men squirm
And you came through it
Not destroyed, not sullen

And you rose to your feet
When hope was hopeless
And life seemed useless
You dug and crawled out
Deep within your being
You reached to discover
That you are worth it
You’ve defied the odds
Shunning the naysayers
You now rise to embark
On love family and work
To live out the meaning
Of the name, your name
Abigail- a father’s joy
