Above Our Figure Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Above Our Figure

Though the thoughts are just an ember
Watching days pass when once were clear
A real feeling for a heart to think of never
Until the cold has come so near

Oh broken, lifeless personage
Why must thy fire burn so slow
What was once believed immortal
Has finally touched the endless cold

A breath before a sigh that lingers
Replayed reflections come to mind
Youth, a story lost forever
Aging now has drawn in many lines

Feelings may open doorways full of sadness
Unfair, is always living life
Her lips will free a bonded spirit
Before we bathe in golden light

Awaken all the days and yesteryear's
Once again fresh within a mind
And now that it is over
Above our figure shall we rise
