Abundant Wealth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Abundant Wealth

Wealth to have,
An abundance of it.
Would be in the faith one has.
In acknowledging to be blessed.
With peace of mind.
To brag of having it in abundance.
And less of the B.S.,
Others use to measure success possessed.
Associated to what one has done to do.
Fantasized to delude...
Money to be involved.
Included.
Or an exchange of it to sell a soul.
Like many who live to believe,
One's contributions...
Given attention to receive,
Increases the ability of those to imagine...
The 'millions' of it,
Gets to be pocketed!
And verified by those with time to find,
Delusions to produce...
The wealth of them.
Instead of facts to assume,
Evidence nowhere to be had.

"LOLOLOL..."

-Why do you laugh like that? -

"It's a notoriety thing."

-Oh?
What do you mean? -

"Once anyone's name is mentioned,
To have accomplished something;
Anything at all.
The first thing people think about,
Is money.
And will search,
Deep through dusted archives...
No matter how old the crusted dust.
Done to do this proven."

-Is that why you laugh? -

"I love the performing arts.
It captivates imaginations.
Like a doing a 'blaxploitation movie'.
Done nearly 50 years ago.
No one in it except this guy...
Wearing a wide fedora hat.
And a zebra skin jacket.
Is thought in real life to be a millionaire."

-That could be true.-

"That's why it's so funny.
Because I know it ain't."
