Adam Poem by Luz EtchemendiGaray

Adam

Today your eyes have
the sparkle of the open sea
that I perceive from the top of the hill
and they gaze at me
I am reminded of Ulysses
when he gazed an his Island
from the water.

By your side I discovered
the mistery of a night storm,
you banished my fears
with stories and legends
of the Aegean Sea.

I understand that I do not have you,
that your life is in other lands,
far from my gaze, from my embrace.

I am also aware that you have known Paradise
in my arms,
I realize it will not suffice you...
You are only Human.
