Adaptation Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Adaptation

Adaptation

On my lap is the book;
Screen shows through
Camera and actions
In movies' narration.

The film is adaption
Of the book and persons
With actions, locations…

But is it?

The book is generous;
Allows to prosper,
Imagine in forming
The lands and locations
With trees and rivers
That have lips in corners,
Cut through rocks, stones
And the currents vary
As do heroes, the things
As well as animals
With power and muscles.

Screen has force, says:
"See it as is offered
Or go, hit the highway! "

To me "Big Bear" in book
Is small and ugly
But smart and active,
Fearless, responsive
To nature, surrounding
And to all the changes
By the White, Settler,
Buffalo, vanishing…

But movie offers the
Big Bear as…

My hero is Big Bear
In the book…not movie!
