Addiction Poem by Sandra Feldman

Addiction

A special kind of sensitivity,
A word conviction that is rare,
A love for beauty and for fiction,
Makes poetry a life's addiction,
That we so often want to share.

I think if it wasn't poetry, it would be something more self-destructive. I think sometimes that poetry is a release, in face of where the world seems to be headed, one needs someway of dealing with matters without internalizing them all the time. And maybe, some will produce words that will motivate others to change in a positive way, although I am becoming more pessimistic of this happening.

I never thought about it that way, but yes, I'm addicted to writing poetry

With your permission, may I say, welcome home, brother.
