The body can be seen shaking
Not because it is terrified
Something in it apparently missing
The body wants to be satisfied
Weak body is an addict to sin
Why not crave for integrity?
The body can be seen blazing
Not because it is burning
Presence of other body making
The two sky high fantasizing
Weak body is an addict to dirt
Why not crave for morality?
The body can be seen ailing
Yes, because it is weak
Chances very slim for quitting
The body cowardly sick
Obstinate body is an addict to death
Why not crave for immortality?

impeccable poetry... i most definitely enjoyed it... i liked yr word play and how it relates to death..and the body is just a mere vessel (well that's my interpretation) ... thnx for sharing
Addiction addresses the ancient dicotomy between the body, with its 'needs' and cravings, and the psyche, with its noble aspirations towards trancendence. Perhaps, as the poet seems to suggest in the first verse, it is largely a matter of where we focus our desires. The passions, unchecked, are likened to a blazing fire - and fire can be a good thing, as long as it does not burn down your house. Finally, the body, weakened by a life of indulgence, must face the end - but can the spirit focus on what is beyond? This poem asks some very deep questions. I've always thought that the Spirit is one of the best topics, truly worthy of poetic treatment. The voice of the poet issues a warning, urging an awakening... With so much being written on inconsequential subjects, it is good to here a sincere voice expressing itself in the form of poetry. Keep writing, Young Church!

Indeed, we need to keep our bodies healthy, so we can invite our immortal soul and participate in what is eternal..
