Addressed To The Gods Of Unnecessary Labors By Sarah Ruhl In Hindi/Urdu Translation

Kuch log kehtay hain: zarrori kaam ko pehlay karna mahaanta hai
Man kehti hoon: pehlay kaam karo jo bilkul zaroori nahin hai

Main jamaa hua kamra nahin chahti
jahaan kabhi kuch nahin hota hai

Main nahin chahti k mera karya-karm bandha hua o ek rassi se
aur paadri dekh raha ho oopar se meri malaamat kartay huay

Main chahti hoon ek khzaana jisay main ne na poocHa tha
jaisay apna janam lainay k liyay main ne pooCha tha

Main chahti hoon teri laataiN aur baazo kush rahaiN
main chahti hoon mire baazo aur laataiN garm rahaiN

Main chahti hooN hum dono wahaN laitay rahaiN
aur aasmaan oopar utsaah bhara bilkul kuch na karay.

Addressed to the gods of unnecessary labors
by Sarah Ruhl

Some say: to do the necessary task is greatness;
I say: do the least necessary thing first.

I don't want a frozen living room,
a room where nothing happens.

I don't want my labors tied in string,
a prelate hovering over, declaiming.

I want a treasure I did not ask for,
the way I didn't ask to be born.

I want your arms and legs to be happy;
I want my arms and legs to be warm.

I want us to lie there, while the sky overhead
vigorously, vigorously does nothing.
