Adieu 2017, Welcome 2018 Poem by Doris Cornago

Adieu 2017, Welcome 2018

Should 2017 be ours to trade for a day
The words on the tip of my tongue
Are the passwords to the portal
Where resides the Immortal
Only He who can lead me
To the edge of a stream
Where the deer drinks
Never thirst again
Filling me to
The brim
Like
A
Waking
Dream, joy
Evermore, adore
Lead me by pillar of
Light, and shelter me by
A cloud, kinship with strangers
I'm home where sent on a mission
World is a stage with roles to play
Sans gamification, realities make us stay

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
On the threshold of another year, I take a deep breath and muster all my courage to confront 2017, where I have been, the difficulties I've faced, and the monsters I've battled. Having my man with me through it all have made all obstacles surmountable. They say I am a fool for putting all eggs in one basket, his and mine all mixed together, but I'll say this to my detractors (if they dare to come out in the open) - this is my life, you can't take it. Perhaps, the greater fool is one who preserves herself/himself for someone who might never come.

I'm glad you've been reading my poems and perhaps wondering at the duality of my nature. So many things have happened to me that made me realize how I've been depriving myself of realizations. :)
