Adrift Fading Into Twilight Poem by soren Barrett

Adrift Fading Into Twilight

Gone the path and familiar trails, the past does not last
Settled under the dust of lost trust and asphalt of change it pales
Map lost in a romantic brain, now a wandering mind's domain
Hands by life's rope burned, a lesson learned that longs for days of yore
Docked sits a boat, on beaches remote, far from nostalgic shore
Our lines we cast in the past of waters that are no more
To fish for a wish of what swam there before
On water there are no guiding signs or painted lines no watery map of brail
Long is the trail in tears we wail and set our sail on rough waves of travail
Before we close mind's door on that distant shore that is no more
