Advice Before Boarding The Dream Ferry Poem by Mary Angela Douglas

Advice Before Boarding The Dream Ferry

have a bit of cake

washed down by starlit waters

an elderberry flower

do not your prayer forsake

it may do you good

lost children in the wood

who stray too far

take a glow worm in a jar

be guided by small things after graduation

the moss on trees

the leaves when they turn gold

weathervaning in the evenings

and when it's cold, take your sweater

tell yourself the warmest stories.

God will know what to do.

if you listen, He'll tell you.
