Accident k baad
jism to theek ho gaya
lakin yadaasht sub chali gayi.

Rehnay do aisay usay.
Theek mut karo.

Registaan main khaDi ek fati mahaan moorti
jab hawa is ki darraron main chala karti thee
us k saath vo gaya karti thee.

Fir uska har pathar
apni jagah pe lagaya gaya -
aur moorti tab se chup chaap hai.

After the Accident

The body has healed,
memory has not.

Let it be, don't mend it.

The cracked colossus
in the desert
once sang
with wind through its crevices.

Then stone was affixed to stone—
it fell silent.
