After The Gales Have Swept By Poem by Mary Angela Douglas

After The Gales Have Swept By

closing the book of stars you'll rest again

into the book of snows your dreams will wend

over the fields of rose the moon will rise

you will exist still wiping the sleep from your eyes

learning what you will learn

on God's own golden terms

come to the window fronting forgotten worlds

sing to yourself my soul is the pearl of Pearls

lost in the gales your ships will right themselves

you with your younger reflections your wishing wells

never may stray too far from the fields of rose

keeping in mind no sorrow that can't be transposed

far from the reach of the trifling and God wills it so

your freedom, the endless desire to fly

singing what you will sing

after the breach is mended

after the gales have swept by.
