After The Waking Poem by Thomas Plotz

After The Waking

Rating: 5.0

I had different plans when I woke today -
Stayed in bed anyway,
Covers pulled to keep me warm
With the firm change of ice wind blow

I wanted to walk
Out by the gate
As the time ticked on and on
Till late afternoon, with overcast skies

Wind just ripping right though

I was frozen, with shock,
For the temps were warm,
Just days ago,

I need to dress, hat and glove
Heavy coat, and get out, after the waking

Maybe when I'm walking, I'll dream of
Windmill's spinning and the other gate
North town, from the other town

Maybe dream of other places…
By other loves,
Out walking
