After You, There Will Be Poem by Hebert Logerie

After You, There Will Be

Honey, everything in me belongs to you
I am your cat, your darling, and your dog
After you, after you're gone, I will die of love
I will die of thirst, and I will accept no help.

After you, darling, there will be no more humor
The sky and the clouds will be gray, dark, forever
Nightingales and roosters will not sing anymore
And my heart will be sad and my being severed.

Darling, under this blue sky, nothing attracts me
Nothing interests me, except your pretty smile
My life, my breath, my soft heart and my soul
Are in your sweet velvety hands, Queenie Bee.

After you, my angel, there will be no more humor
Everything will be finished, caput for me, forever
Under the vault of the sky, my sweetie, no more love
Everything will be dead, for me, no kisses and no help.

Under this sky, I want nothing and nothing attracts me
Except your big and pretty crystal eyes of ebony and fire
After you, after you're gone, there is no humor and no love
Here below, my soft heart will be closed, indeed dead, forever.

P.S. I dedicate this poem to Tino Rossi, Réda Caire, my father Gustave and the Haitian troubadours who continue to sing this masterpiece: "Après toi, je n'aurai plus d'amour", "After you, I will have no more love". I loved this song as a child. My father used to sing it. I continue to love this amazing song, although the words are sad and full of emotions. This is my homage to this song, and to the lovers of this song.

I was not familiar with this song, Hebert, but I like what you do in this lyrical poem. Its excess speaks to the intensity of feeling, of attraction, of being in love. Recently after a long time I remembered the song Paper Moon. Similar in feeling to this poem of yours, you might enjoy it. -Glen
