It's often said
In romantic tones
"Age is nothing but a number"
Like selling cheap wine
Choosing to wipe away your life story
And mould you into a brand of spice
To flavour their appetite
I refuse to accept this notion
Age is more than a number
It's the packets of memory
The delicious experiences
Sad times and good times
All wrapped up
Ready to be composed
Published into a beautiful poetry book
It's the sweetness of knowing
To be calm and collected
To stop complaining
And be your true self (empty of ego)
Even when you are lost, in pain or distressed
Knowing that
Life is more than a script
It's a marvellous journey
Beyond the boundary of the self
Into the mystic realms
An exploration into the realm of "otherness"
And a return to "oneness"
Many chose the world of materialism
To showcase their wealth (& age)
Falling into the trap of selfishness and deceit
Corruption and egocentrism
I choose the realm of nothingness
To address my friends and the rest of humanity
Undressing the pain, sorrow and fear
Harnessing the hope, faith and Love within
Illuminating the inner Light and Silence
It's the inner being
Encapsulated in wisdom, understanding and knowledge
That holds the key to the journey of life
Allow your mind, body and soul to be soaked
And be nourished by age
Until the beauty of your spirit
Shines more than diamonds
And your love is as pure as unconditional Love
Then you will know
That age is more than a number
