Each time I look at the portrait,
It appears ageless.
The attachment grows.
I get drawn to nostalgia-
A series of life events
That brought two souls closer
Culminating though rituals
For establishing stronger bonds
As we got new identities,
That moment is frozen.
I see the excitement
About a new beginning
Of a journey of togetherness
Lurking in our eyes.
The glimpses flash before me-
The solemn air
Hymns, flowers
Sacred fire, prayers and priest
Hall teeming with guests, relatives
Best wishes, blessings and gratitude
Mixed with anxieties and expectations
As a new phase was unfolding.
In hindsight-
I'm led to believe
Nothing else would have been possible.
The path from past to the present
And the way forward too-
Look charted out.
