Akara Poem by SylvaOnyema (SUPER.T) Ubah

Akara

Sweet beans
Molded round like circle
Dancing round red fire

Hot liquid
Boiling and swelling
Blossom round
Like full moon

Long queues
Waiting patiently
At your doorsteps

People lick fingers
Vibrating with the sounds of:
Ta! ta! ta! ta! ! !

Akara

People lick fingers It shows that 'akara' is a very sweet food. The people cannot help but lick their fingers. Licking of fingers is an African way of showing that a meal is very sweet.
