Alanis Morrisset Poem by John A. Hancock

Alanis Morrisset

Sweet song bird of the air
Thy enchanting voice rings the heavenly chimes
Calling forth one's deepest emotion and
Thoughts of love and life thy lyrics bring to mind
Your sightless thoughts they cross the heavens
Inspired by the songs written from the soul
Just as words from my pen they bleed
Spilling endless lines of emotion across the paper row by row
Does not the chains of the past inspire thee
For we write of the collective loves that come and go
Gaining strength from the pain we have endured
We poets for centuries hath come to know
Sweet song bird of the air
What reflections do thy melodies bring
When from thy mouth flows
The joyful music you so beautifully sing
