Alarm Poem by Paul Butters

Alarm

My watch alarm is stuck at 9 AM,
So if I choose to rise right then
I place it next my bed.

But if I wish to lie in late
I leave it in an empty room,
To faithfully beep,
Unheard,

Again and again,
Day by day,
Relentlessly persisting,
Though no one cares,
Until its battery fails.
