The alfalfa smells fresh and pure
Her hair is filled with the alfalfa odour
When the spring annually to arrive
The air around is scented in this kind
Opening her growth diary, she writes -
Grasses will turn yellow and dry
My alfalfa won't change and fade
The seed of rustic flower is sown in my mind
Country life lacks the variety and choices of urban life. Your Country Girl is happy with that life and enjoys the closeness to nature which leaves alfalfa scent in her hair. She has the integrity of one who has made a moral choice to live her life on her terms, not to mope about wishing she were someone else. That fact that her journal is called a GROWTH journal emphasizes this moral commitment to live the best possible life. She is living her life deliberately, as Thoreau put it, and the quality of her life matters more to her than the quantity of her possessions. The last three lines she has written in her GROWTH DIARY (great title!) show she has the creativity of a poet, and she finds complete fulfillment in nature outside her and poetry within her. I like your poem and I live your Country Girl! ! Wonderful poem, Cigeng.
Seem to be so, Daniel, country lacks prosperity of the city. Some people do not like countryside while some see countryside as a big natural painting, full of the fragrance of the earth and idyllic scenery. I am very glad you liked my poem. I like your words, “the quality of her life matters more to her than the quantity of her possessions”. Nice saying! Thanks.

Great poem, there is nothing more magnificent than the countryside and mother nature showing us the way to live.
Thanks Christopher. Your good comment reminds me of the quote by Francois Millet, “In countryside, I've found something more than countryside itself – that is the magnificent scenery of no bounds.... Much appreciated.
